Food & Clothing Shelf

Food & Clothing Shelf
To feed, clothe, and nurture our neighbors in need, as part of the ELCA World Hunger effort, St. Philip’s expanded the existing food pantry in 2017 into what is now the St. Philip’s Food & Clothing Shelf. Free emergency food, clothing, hygiene items, and crisis information are provided in a dignified, faith based, safe, friendly, and healthy environment where all are welcome.

We are now in our newly expanded space in Rooms 16 and 17, with entrance through Door 3.

Hours of operation:

  • Tuesdays: 10:00 – 11:30 am
  • Wednesday: 5:00 – 6:30 pm
  • Friday: 10:00 – 11:30 am

Masks and safe distancing is required. If you don’t have a mask a volunteer will supply one during check-in.

Visitors can receive two bags of food and one bag of clothing per family/household every 30 days. Please bring a valid ID. (You won’t be turned away if you don’t have one.)

We will continue this schedule until testing is sufficient for the Minnesota Department of Health, to give the all clear for the release of social distancing.

Volunteer Opportunities: If interested, please contact Bob, Judy or our church office

St. Philip’s Food & Clothing Shelf are looking for volunteers who would…

  • Work with co-directors (Bob Becker & Judy Greer) on computer developed publicity.

  • Work with Judy Greer to occasionally purchase Men’s and Women’s socks, underwear and shoes. We currently have one person volunteering but many hands lighten the load.

  • Work with Bob Becker to purchase occasional items from Dollar Tree and Target that are not available for purchase on our 2nd Harvest orders.

Special Note:

We have a sign on Door 2 explaining that we are NOT ACCEPTING food donations at this time. This sign is up because we DO NOT want food donations dropped off without prior notice given to co-directors Bob Becker or Judy Greer. Other local Food Shelves have been dropping off large quantities of their overstock items that we are now also overstocked with.

We WILL ACCEPT food donations from members of St. Philip’s.

Please email info@splcmn.org for more information.
