Rita Schwieters serves as St. Philip’s Director of Membership and Connections. Although she is one of the newest members of the staff team, Rita has quickly come to appreciate the warmth and hospitality that make St. Philip’s such a welcoming community. She is passionate about helping people feel connected, valued, and supported as they grow in their faith and relationships with others.
Rita describes herself as a bit of a nerd with a deep appreciation for transformation and growth. She loves reading—especially spiritual books and science fiction or fantasy—and enjoys exploring topics like math, physics, and life’s bigger questions. She values honest, meaningful conversations and welcomes opportunities to connect with people on a deeper level. Rita is married, has two children, and shares her home with an old dog and an old cat who are very much part of the family.
One of the things Rita loves most about St. Philip’s is the warm and welcoming attitude she encounters everywhere she goes. Her favorite Bible passage is Matthew 11:28–30, where Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Those words serve as a reminder of God’s grace, comfort, and invitation to find rest in Him. In her free time, Rita enjoys reading, gardening, and savoring a Starbucks Brown Sugar Oatmilk Cortado. A fun fact about Rita is that she once completed a tandem skydive!
